Anand Krishnamoorthi Biography

Anand Krishnamoorthi is a film actor, sound engineer, sound designer, sound editor and production sound mixer associated with Indian films. He is a renowned artist of present day cinema. He has also appeared as a child artist in Indian movies, most notable one being Anjali directed by Mani Ratnam. It was his first screen appearance. Later he appeared in May Madham, Sathi Leelavathi, Aasai, Thalapathi etc and a few Tamil films as a child actor. Later he returned to film scene as a sound technician. Vishwaroopam, Kalyana Samayal Saadham, O Kadhal Kanmani etc are his noted works. He is known for his frequently association with Mani Ratnam.

Anand Krishnamoorthi hails from Tamil Nadu. He started his film career as a child artist in Tamil movies in the year 1990, and appeared in a few more films and TV serials before he vanished. He got his first break through Mani Ratnam’s Anjali and was also seen in Thalapathi directed by him. He later completed Visual Communication from the Loyola College, Chennai and Master's in Electronic Media from the Anna University, Chennai. To pursue a career in films he took Master’s degree in Film and Television Production from the University of Bristol in 2005. Then he worked as a Sound Trainee with BBC during 2005-2006.

Before moving to Bristol, he worked as an assistant director of Balu Mahendra in the early 2000s. After spending a few years abroad, he re-joined Indian film industry in 2006. He worked as Production Mixer for Marmayogi, but the movie got shelved. Dialogue Editing and Sound for Unnaipol Oruvan, Tamil remake of A Wednesday marked his debut in Tamil film industry. He also made a cameo role of a hacker in the movie. After that he worked in the sound department for nearly 10 movies.
