Alancier Lay Biography

Alancier Lay is a character artist of Malayalam cinema who entered films very lately. Only a few films in his credit, he shot to fame playing the pivot character role in highly acclaimed film - Njan Steve Lopez. He was the real star of the film and earned appreciation through his flawless acting skills. In 2016 he played the comic role of Artist Baby, Fahadh Faasil’s friend in the super hit film - Maheshinte Prathikaaram. Though he looked serious throughout the movie, and also delivered dialogues the similar way, those sequences gave some hilarious comedy scenes to the movie. Lay is known for surprising audience with his realistic acting skills and its best instance is the latest hit - Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016). He was even compared to great actor Thilakan after the movie release. He has 25 years of experience in theater.

Lay is a theatre artist who forayed to films. He is a late entry to films. But he gained success in a short period. The actor feels that it’s the right time to enter film world. Otherwise he would have left the industry after one or two films. Since the days of primary school, he acted in plays. But he never thought of joining film stream. He belongs to Puthenthop village where there is a library named Jai Hind, which annually conducts amateur play competitions, and Alancier used to watch. He used to imitate those characters while at school. That’s the beginning of his illustrious theater journey.

He received his first break to films, while doing his second year graduation.  His first film was P. A. Becker’s Sakhavu – Viplavathinte Sukra nakshatram with comedian Prem Kumar playing the title role. Unfortunate the film was not released. 1997 film Daya starring Manju Warrior was his first released film. After that he got roles, but good roles in offbeat Malayalam movies over the years. Annayum Rasoolum was his first commercial film. Since then he got attached to commercial movies also. Shayanam, Monsoon Mangoes, Margam, Kanyaka Talkies, Maheshinte Prathikaaram and Ramanam are other noted appearances.
