Akshay Oberoi Biography

Akshay Oberoi is an upcoming Bollywood actor who acted in movies like American Chai and Isi Life Mein. He is of Punjab origin and is an Indian-American actor. He is a theatre artist too has worked with famous Prithvi Theatre. He is the nephew of Bollywood actor Suresh Oberoi and the cousin of Vivek Oberoi. He is married to Jyothi Vynatheya and they got married in the year 2011. Pizza is his upcoming movie. He became the new face of Rajshri Productions through his Bollywood debut – Isi Life Mein (2010), which was a moderate hit at box office. He was casted opposite another debutant, Sandeepa Dhar in this movie.

The Punjabi boy was born on 1 January 1985. The son of Krishan Oberoi is the first cousin of Bollywood actor, Vivek Oberoi. Akshay took Bachelor of Arts degree from Theater Arts and Economics at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He trained in acting from in Stella Adler in New York and went to ‘Playhouse West’, Los Angeles to learn the Meisner technique. Before moving to India he also learnt ballet, jazz and hip-hop dance at Broadway Dance Center. He also studied acting under Sean Astin from ‘Lord of the Rings’ and his father John Astin from ‘The Addams Family’. In 2001 he played a bit role in ‘American Chai’ directed by Indian American director Anurag Mehta. He also received training from Kishore Nameet Kapoor.

He was launched by Rajshri Productions, ‘Isi Life Mein’ which earned him critical appreciation. The leading pair was praised by all critics and movie was an average at box office. In 2012, he appeared in MTV series, Rush where he portrayed the role of Ayush.
