Ajita Suchitra Veera Biography 
Ajita Suchitra Veera is a film maker, writer, photographer and illustrator. Her first feature film "Ballad Of Rustom" was in Oscar contention for Best Picture at Academy Awards 2014. She acted as its director, screenwriter, producer, co-editor, production design and has been associated with its sound design and music. This feature film was described as a “powerful cinematographic poem and epic” by The International Film Festival Mannheim, Germany. Her short film "Notes On Her" was an official entry to the Oscars in 2003.
Veera was born in Hyderabad to Anjan Babu, an illustrator, cartoonist, graphic designer and photo-journalist. Her mother Usha Rani is a journalist turned banker. She is the single child to her parents. Her father owned a small photo studio. Veera started sketching at the age of 3. She did her schooling from Nasr School, Hyderabad. Sketching, reading, watching movies and printing photographs with her father were her hobbies during her childhood. Both parents loved watching World Cinema as well as Indian art films. Thus Ajita too got attached to the world of cinema. Her father used to take her to local cinema halls to see Hollywood movies, which made deep imprint on her child mind. In high school Veera was introduced to the Indian master Satyajit Ray. He too influenced her a lot and she started watching world cinema interestingly.
She had a brief stint in M.A Theatre Arts, Central University Hyderabad in the late 1990’s and acted in a few plays. Then she joined FTII Pune where she got graduated in Film direction. She started marking short films in 2000. Her maiden Feature Film "Ballad of Rustom" is slated for a world wide release in 2014. It has already received international appreciation.
