Ajit Vachani Biography

Ajit Vachani was a noted character artist associated with Hindi and Marathi entertainment industry. He has played many signature roles onscreen, which are still popular. He was a permanent fix in Sooraj R Barjatya’s films, till his death in 2003. This talented actor died at a comparatively young age of only 52, leaving behind a void that’s not easy to cover up. He acted in Sooraj Barjatya’s first three films, Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun...! and Hum Saath-Saath Hai.

 

He was a part of the iconic film, Mr. India and has also played supporting roles in Aankhen, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Tridev, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, 100 Days, Deedar, Yash, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. He acted in more than 50 Hindi films apart from three Sindhi films. Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta and Jodi No.1 were among his last releases. Among his television shows, Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka – his last show ran over 1000 episodes. The show was aired on Doordarshan in Gujarati, Hindi and Marathi languages. Prior to cinema and television he has been associated with theatre.

 

He was born in the year 1951. Ajit got active in the entertainment industry with mid-1980s. He made his television debut through the serial, Bante Bigadte (1985) aired on Doordarshan, the only television channel available in the 1980s. Very soon he became a familiar face and bagged many film roles as well. Jhoothi and Khamosh were his earliest releases, both released in 1985. He played a negative shaded role Teja in the iconic film – Mr. India in 1987. Since then he has portrayed about 50 character roles in Hindi cinema. He died on August 25, 2003 in Mumbai after prolonged illness.
