Abhishek Sharma Biography

Abhishek Sharma is a successful film director and screenwriter associated with Hindi cinema, best known for comic films. He marked his film debut with 2010 highly acclaimed comedy film, Tere Bin Laden which was a box office hit. The film based on a new theme was well appreciated by critics and audience. The look alike of Bin Laden became a talk of the town. Later he directed comedy masala The Shaukeens which was a box office hit. He made a spin-off to Tere Bin Laden - Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive in 2016 which couldn’t repeat the success of its prequel. Yet with the success of his recent film, Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran he cemented his position in Bollywood. The Zoya Factor starring Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salman in lead roles is his upcoming flick.

Abhishek Sharma marked his Bollywood debut with Tere Bin Laden in 2010. This low-budget film was a well-researched one and it was made before Bin Laden was killed. The comic element of the movie struck the right chord with the audience, and still now the director is best known for his debut flick. Though his films are best known as entertainers, he doesn’t make them for mere entertainment. He conducts thorough research and also read intelligently written books before he go on to scripting. He made a spinoff of Tere Bin Laden after the terrorist was killed. There is no substantial proof behind his death, and that’s why the director decided to make one film on this.

His second release - The Shaukeens though received mixed reviews from critics was a box office hit. His most recent release - Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran was questioned for the authenticity of facts, and received mixed reviews from critics. But the movie turned a box office hit. This was for the first time the director turned to a serious subject. Except The Shaukeens, he scripted all his films.
