Abhaya Simha Biography

Abhaya Simha is a film maker and screenwriter from Karnataka. He made his film debut in the year 2008 through the movie – Gubbachigalu. The movie received National Film Award for Best Children's Film for the year 2008. In 2012 he directed a Kannada - Malayalam bilingual film titled Shikari and Romantic Comedy Sakkare released in 2013 was his latest release. He wrote the story, script & dialogue for the movie, Shikari and has also appeared in one movie, Endendu Ninagagi released in 2014.

 

He was born in Mangalore on June 12, 1981. Noted musician and science writer G.T. Narayana Rao is his grandfather. He graduated from St Aloysius College, Mangalore where he completed Engineering course and later learnt direction from FTII, Pune. Abhaya Simha made his film debut through Kannada film Gubbacchigalu directed by Mangalorean Abhaya Simha won the hearts of children and adults. He worked on a wonderful script on a contemporary theme of city bred kids who loss many valuable things of life. The film was selected in the Indian panorama section at the international film festival in Goa and also at the Kolkata international film festival. Prakruthi received state award for best child artist.

 

Prior to movies, he has produced several documentaries, short features and music videos. His second venture was a bilingual movie named Shikari. The movie starred mega star Mammootty and Poonam Bajwa in the lead. Mohan and Innocent also played pivot roles in the film. Though the movie received negative response from Malayalam critics, it was warmly welcomed by Kannada critics. Mammootty played a software professional in this movie.
