A. C. Zainuddin Biography

A. C. Zainuddin, popularly known as Zainuddin was a popular comedian of Malayalam cinema in the 1990s. He did quite a few memorable roles in Mollywood and was mostly associated with almost all successful film directors of the industry. Kasargod Khader Bhai directed by Thulasidas is his best noticed role of his career. He portrayed the role of Nizam in this movie. He played lead role aside Maniyanpilla Raju in 1997 movie - Siamese Irattakal, where the duo appeared as Siamese twins. He has also played lead role in the comedy series of Doordarshan – Panicker’s. He died at a comparatively young age of 47 at the peak of his career.

 

A. C. Zainuddin was born on 12 May 1952 in Kochi. He started his career as a mimicry artist with the famous troupe, Cochin Kalabhavan. He is best known for imitating the legendary actor Madhu for the movie – Chemmeen. Offbeat movie Chappa directed by P. A. Bakkar marked his acting debut. He was also seen in a bit role in Onnu Muthal Poojaym Vare. His first big break was 1991 movie – Mimics parade where he played a mimicry artist. The ensemble star cast included Innocent, Jagadeesh, Siddique and Ashokan. The movie directed by Thulasidas was a blockbuster and its sequel was made - Kasargod Khader Bhai one year later. This movie was a big hit that its prequel and Zainuddin cemented his position as a leading comedian of the industry.

 

Some of his other memorable roles are Mimics Super 1000, Kidilol Kidilam, Ennodishtam koodamo, Appu, Thooval sparsham, Ulladakkam, Ezhara Ponanna, Ooti pattanam, Hitler, Kabooliwala, Sudhinam, Custom’s diary, Pandu Pandoru Rajakumari, Amaram, Excuse Me Ethu Collegila, Kalyana Sowgandhikam, Alanchery Thambrakkal etc. He was associated with AMMA’s activities to raise fund for Kargil war victims, when he died of respiratory disease in 1999. Ezhupunna Tharakan was his last release.
