Zarina Screwvala Biography 
Zarina Screwvala is an Indian businesswomen, entrepreneur and philanthropist. She is the wife of Ronnie Screwvala, the founder and CEO of UTV Group associated with Indian entertainment industry. She is currently the Managing Trustee of Swades Foundation and was the the Chief Creative Officer at UTV Software Communications, founded by her. UTV group includes UTV Bindass, UTV Stars, UTV Action and Hungama TV channel and produces and markets television shows and movies.
Her maiden name is Zarina Mehta and she was born and brought up in London. She moved to India with her family at the age of 8. She completed graduation in Economics from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai and also took Master’s in Marketing and Advertising from Xavier’s Institute of Communications. Then she started her career under doyen of Indian theatre artist Pearl Padamsee. She started her career as a production manager. It was during this time when she met Ronnie Screwvala who later became her life and business partner. In the year 1990, the two along with their third partner Deven Khote started UTV. The production house started functioning with a quiz show for Doordarshan.
Shanti – the first television soap on Indian television (1994) was produced by the same production house. The show marked the acting debut of television star, Mandira Bedi. This show was one of the earliest successes of UTV. The first reality show on Indian television, Saanp Seedi (1992) was also produced by the same house. In 2004, UTV launched Hungama TV, television channel for kids. UTV Bindaas was started in the year 2007. Zarina Screwvala is the Managing Trustee of Swades, which works for Rural Empowerment.
