Vikram Potdar Biography

Vikram Potdar is a well-known wildlife photographer from Solapur, Maharashtra. He has visited all 6 continents and 2 polar regions, as a part of his professional life, taking photos on wild life and nature. He is a self-taught photographer. He won “Special Mention Prize" in the Wild Maharashtra Photography Contest Organized by MTDC and Sanctuary Asia. He was felicitated by Mayor of Pune City for beautification project of Taljai Hills, Pune. Based on the popular Mile Sur Mera Tumhara Song of 1988, he shot a video with residents at Sigma One Society, Pune appearing as artists. He is also a civil engineer by profession with more than 25 years of varied experience in real estate and construction sector.

 

Vikram Potdar was born in Solapur, Maharashtra. Since young he was close to nature. In 2006, he visited Nagerhole in Karnataka. He got drawn towards nature and wildlife, and got fascinated with the beauty of both. Basically a civil engineer, he decided to pursue his passion of photography and taught the essentials of the art by himself. Initially this was just hobby. But later he bought his first DSLR camera after his trip to Kanha Tiger Reserve. He was so much drawn towards the art that he visited six continents, 22 countries and two Polar Regions with his camera.

 

He has contributed his photographs to various magazines and has conducted two exhibitions in the recent past – in Pune in 2014 and in Mumbai in 2015. He is into real estate and construction sector and has developed a 400 units of residential project in Pune. Vikram started his career in 1991 as a Survey Engineer in Mumbai, and moved to Pune in 1992.
