Sudharak Olwe Biography 
Sudharak Olwe is a senior documentary photographer from Mumbai. His works have been featured in many exhibitions in major cities across India, as well as abroad. He was honoured at National Geographic's "All Roads Photography Program" in 2005, and 2016 government of India honoured him with Padma Shri. Sudharak Olwe currently heads the Photography promotion Trust, which creates awareness about the art of photography in young adults, not only in urban areas but in rural areas too. He is best known for capturing the working class of big cities through his camera.
Sudharak Olwe was born on 19 March 1966 in Akola, a district in the state of Maharashtra. In 1986 he completed a Diploma in Photography from the Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art, followed by Diploma in Film and Video Production from St. Xavier's College in 1992. Though he had a strong educational background related to the subject of photography, he credits his experiences in this field as the real factors behind his success. Once he came to Hyderabad from Mumbai without the knowledge of his family to learn more about street life. Later he depicted his experience through photographs.
Since 1988, Sudharak Olwe has documented heart-rending stories and issues from around India. For more than 15 years, S Olwe tried to capture every possible moment in his camera. But what touched him the most was the conservancy workers, and the invisible work force of the city of Mumbai. The veteran photojournalist also serves as photo-editor of online portal dna. 'In Search of Dignity and Justice', ‘Spirited Souls: Winning Women of Mumbai’, ‘Witness to Glory: Raj Bhavans of Maharashtra’ etc are the books authored by him. Sudharak's stories have been featured in countless Magazines and Journals.
