Sonu Shivdasani Biography 
Sonu Shivdasani is an Indian British businessman best known as a hotelier who owns several luxury resorts. He is the founder and CEO of Soneva, which owns luxury resorts - Soneva Fushi and Jani in the Maldives, and Soneva Kiri in Thailand. He also started a chain of Six Senses Resorts & Spas throughout South East Asia and Europe, and remained its CEO. Later he sold it in 2012. His grandfather was an Indian Civil Services officer. Sonu was one of the founders of the Soneva Foundation, a UK registered charity which supports the development of innovative and imaginative projects whose impacts directly address social and environmental challenges around the globe.
Sonu Shivdasani was born in England to Indian parents in 1965. Lakshmi and Indoo Shivdasani are his parents, both of Sindh origin. His father migrated to England before Partition. His father was a businessman who succeeded in trading business in Nigeria and was settled in England. Sonu’s education was completed at England, Switzerland and Oxford. His father died in 1979, when he was only 13, and later the family business was taken care of by his elder brother. His elder sister, Bina Shivdasani became the first Asian High Sheriff of Greater London in 2002.
After studies, Sonu Shivdasani joined family business. After two years he founded Six Senses BVI and also Soneva Fushi spa and resort in Maldives in 1995, along with his wife Eva. They started Evason group of hotels and the Six Senses Resorts & Spas, in different parts of Asia and Europe. By 2011, it became an international luxury spa and resort chain with 26 resorts and 41 spas. In 2012 it was bought by Pegasus Capital. The couple later focussed on owned resorts with private residences.
