Sheila Sri Prakash Biography 
Sheila Sri Prakash is an architect and urban designer from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. A veteran in the field of Indian architecture, she is the first female architect in India to have started and operated her own architectural practice. She started Shilpa Architects, an architecture firm started by a woman for the first time in India. Her son Bhargav Sri Prakash is an entrepreneur, inventor and engineer based in Silicon Valley. She has also been a visiting professor to different universities across the world. She was a performer of south Indian dance forms on stage for nearly 2 decades, before she began her career in architecture field.
Sheila Sri Prakash was born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. She was born on 6 July 1955 to Lt. Col. G.K.S. Pathy and S. Thangamma. Her father was in Indian army. She was trained in classical dance and music at a younger age. She is a trained Bharatnatyam who gave her first stage performance in 1961. Dhanvanthi Rama Rau called her a child prodigy watching her performance on stage. She was also trained in Kuchipudi and string instrument Veena during her younger days. She had a two decade of career as a performing artist. In fact her family moved to Chennai so that she can get a good tutor to continue with her dance classes.
She studied architecture at the Anna University School of Architecture and Planning. She later attended Harvard Graduate School of Design's Executive Education Program, and over the years she earned fame as a leading architect of the country. Her name was listed among Top 100 most influential architects in the world by it:Il Giornale dell'Architettura. She also found her space in the list of 50 most influential names in Architecture and Design in 2015 by Architectural Digest.
