Shanti Tigga Biography 
Shanti Tigga was the first female soldier of Indian army. She joined military force as a jawan when she was 35 and a widowed mother of two children. She created a lot of bizz when she joined the force. But she was not aware that she is the first female jawan of the country. Tigga was awarded the title of best trainee. Unfortunately three years later, she was found dead in the Chalsa railway hospital, where she was recruited. A few days ago she was accused of taking bribes for giving jobs to other. A few days before her death, she was abducted by some people.
She hails from the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. Shanti Tigga got married at a very early age. Just like any other rural woman, she was a housewife for many years. She also became the mother of two children. But things changed when her husband passed away so unexpectedly. Her husband worked for the Railway and following his death, she got the job of Railway on the compensatory ground in the year of 2005. Later she came to know about Territorial Army of Railways and her mind got stuck in it.
She volunteered to join the TA of Railways, and took inspiration from many of her family members who joined military. She worked hard on her physical abilities and passed the tests. She also outperformed all other male candidates and stood as the best trainee during the training section. Thus breaking all stereotypes, she became the first Indian female to join army.
But the happiness didn’t last too long and she was wrongly accused of taking money in exchange for giving jobs. Very soon she was kidnapped by unknown perpetrators on 9th May 2013. The next morning, she was found to be tied to a post near the Railway tracks, blindfolded. She was hospitalized and her cabin at the hospital was well secured. Tigga's body was found in the toilet of a cabin at the Alipurduar Railway Hospital.
She was only 37, and only two years since her appointment as jawan. It is presumed that she committed suicide because of false accusations. But her family members alleged that she was murdered. However Tigga has set an example of a hero, and she will be remembered for a long time.
