Maya Dolas Biography 
Maya Dolas was an Indian underground gangster who was killed in an encounter at the 1991 Lokhandwala Complex shootout at the age of 25. He was killed in the encounter by the then Additional Police Commissioner of Mumbai, Aftab Ahmed Khan. Dolas was a gangster who worked with the infamous underworld king, Dawood Ibrahim. In 2007, his life and encounter was made to a film in Bollywood titled - Shootout at Lokhandwala, with Vivek Oberoi enacting the role of the gangster. The movie was a huge hit at box office as well. Maya's mother Ratnaprabha had moved court to ban the movie stating that the movie is fictionalized and movie presents many things falsely.
He was born on 15 October 1966 to Vithobha and Ratnaprabha Dolas. He had 5 siblings. He completed ITA course. He joined the Dawood Ibrahim gang in 1980 and was able to rise to prominence in a short time. He worked with D-Company, owned by Dawood Ibrahim. He ran many extortion rackets, demanding money by threatening and closely worked with Congress politician Ashok Joshi's gang. Lokhandwala Complex was purchased by Shiv Sena criminal-politician Gopal Rajwani for Dawood Ibrahim.
In the encounter conducted on 16 November 1991, Maya Dolas and Dilip Buwa, along with four others, were surrounded by the Mumbai Police. The group was led by Aftab Ahmed Khan. In the encounter Maya Dolas along with his friends was killed. It was later rumoured that it was Dawood himself who informed the police about their whereabouts, as he wanted police to kill them. The four-hour shootout was much publicized on news channels and media – one of the sensational news that time. It was alleged that the anti-terrorist squad took 70 lakh cash that was with Maya’s hands. Though many investigations were made later, police failed to get concrete evidence.
