Saumya Joshi Biography 
Saumya Joshi is a writer belonging to Gujarati literature, who authors plays, poetry and many other works. He is also playwright, director and actor. A well-known personality from Gujarat, he is a recipient of numerous awards and honours including Chandravadan Chimanlal Mehta Award (2013), Yuva Gaurav Puraskar (2007) and Takhtasinh Parmar Prize (2008-09). Greenroomma (2008) is his anthology of poems. 2018 Bollywood film, 102 Not Out starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor is based on a Gujarati play scripted and directed by Joshi.
His full name is Saumya Jayantbhai Joshi. He was born on July 3, 1973 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Jayant Joshi and Neela Josh are his parents. His childhood and younger days were spent in his hometown, where he completed his schooling and advanced studies. He completed his Master’s degree in English literature in 1995, and got into teaching field same year. But he kept alive, his love towards art and theatre and founded Fade-In Theatre with other young theatre people in 2010. He left his teaching job at H. K. Arts College the following year.
After that he dedicated most of his time towards Gujarati theatre, where he scripted and directed many successful plays. Joshi started writing poems at the age of 18, and published a collection of his poems titled Greenroomma in 2008. Earlier he used to publish his poems in magazines. His first play was Rami Lo Ne Yaar! He often gave emphasis to comedy elements in his plays, and Dost Chokkas Ahin Ek Nagar Vastu Hatu is the best instance. His play 102 Not Out too had strong comedy plot, which was later adapted for a Hindi film with the same title. Munjaro, Mahatma Bomb, Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tara and Dharo Ke Tame Manji Chho are a few more works. He also acts in his plays.
