Priya Paul Biography 
Priya Paul is an Indian businesswoman and entrepreneur associated with hotel business. She currently serves as the chairperson of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels (The Park hotels), a subsidiary of the Apeejay Surrendra Group. Paul has been conferred with the Padma Shri award by Government of India in 2012. In 2018 she won Outstanding Contribution Award at AHEAD Asia. Priya Paul opened a new branch of hotels called Zone by the park, 4-star branch of hotels. She has been working in the hotel industry for more than 25 years.
She was born into a business family as the daughter of Surrendra Paul. At the age of ten Priya was clear that she would be an entrepreneur. But her entry into hoteliering was a decision made by the family. She completed her studies from Wellesley College (US). She began her professional career as marketing manager at The Park New Delhi, under her father in the year 1988, at the age of 21. Following the death of her father, she succeeded him. She had to take over the management of three Park Hotels. The first hotel was opened on November 1, 1967 with 150 rooms on the fashionable Park Street in Kolkata. Today the group has boutique hotels in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkatta, New Delhi, Visakhapatnam and many other cities.
She believes in the philosophy of enjoying everyday life by working and playing hard. It was in the year 1990, she articulated a vision for the Park brand, and thus pioneered the concept of boutique hotels in India. She modelled it based on several international trends, and became a trendsetter in Indian scene. She is also a feminist and an active industry supporter.
