Prerana Deshpande Biography 
Prerana Deshpande is a renowned Indian artist and dancer associated with Kathak dance form. She is an internationally acclaimed artist, also a dance choreographer and researcher, and a recipient of Devadasi National Award. She is a disciple of Rohini Bhate. She established Nrityadham, an institute for Kathak dance in Pune, where she teaches students from India and abroad. Nrityashri title, by Kiran, Katani 1994, Singar Mani title, by the Sur Singar Samsad of Mumbai and Gaurav Puruskar at the hands of Pt. Birju Maharaj are some of the major titles received by her. Noted tabla artist Supreet Deshpande is her husband.
Prerana Deshpande was initiated to the world of Kathak at the age of 7. Sharadini Gole was her first guru. She gave her first stage performance at the age of 15. After that she received training from the renowned artist Rohini Bhate. She practised Lucknow and Jaipur gharanas for long 2 decades from this great artist. She also took Master’s degree in Kathak from Centre of Performing Arts of Pune University, where she received first rank. Earlier she took graduation in mathematics. She often uses principles of mathematics for choreographing and adding rhythm & steps for her dance compositions.
Deshpande established Nrityadham, a dance institute in Pune and has trained numerous students. Many of her students have participated in dance festivals and cultural events arranged in different parts of the country. She married tabla artist, Supreet Deshpande and has one daughter Ishwari Deshpande who is trained in Kathak since young. In 2007 she collaborated with famous Odissi dancer Sujata Mohapatra to do a Odissi-Kathak fusion work titled, Ajanta Comes Alive - Tribute to Ajanta & Ellora.
