Phaneesh Murthy Biography 
Phaneesh Murthy is an Indian businessman and executive, who briefly served as the director of Infosys Ltd, leading IT company during the period 2000 – 2002. He became the Chief Executive Officer of iGATE Corporation in 2003. Murthy later became President in 2006 and was re-elected in 2010. He served both the positions of CEO and President till 2013, when he was sacked following a claim of sexual harassment by a subordinate employee. Murthy had to face a sexual harassment lawsuit while being with Infosys and was fired from the company in 2002. However, Murthy has denied all the charges in both these cases.
Murthy was born in a middle class Kannada family in Bangalore. He took MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and later received his B.Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai in the year 1987. Then he started his career with Sonata Software. He was a brilliant employee who put forward many nice strategies for his company. After spending 5 years in Sonata Software, he moved to Infosys. He had a brilliant career in Infosys too and served as Worldwide Head of Sales and Marketing, Communications, and the Product Solutions Group of Infosys Ltd. from 1995 to 2002.In 2002 he was appointed as Director of Infosys. His former executive secretary Reka Maximovitch filed a lawsuit against him, complaining of sexual harassment. At the same time, another woman, Jennifer Griffith, had filed similar charges resulting in a US$ 800,000 settlement. Thus Murthy was fired from Infosys.
Murthy joined iGATE Global Solutions Limited in August 2003 after the company’s acquisition of Quintant. He played a key role in restructuring iGATE and has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of iGATE since April 1, 2008. Murthy is credited with the iGATE acquisition of Patni Computer Systems in 2011. However he was sacked in 2013 following a sexual harassment complaint by an employee in the same organization.
