Paresh Mokashi Biography 
Paresh Mokashi is an actor, producer and director associated with Marathi cinema and theatre. His debut directorial venture ‘Harishchandrachi Factory’ in 2009 was selected as India's official entry to 82nd Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The movie depicted India’s first feature film making by Dadasaheb Phalke. He started his career as a backstage worker for theatre and played minor roles too and later became one of the established theater personalities in the recent times. Noted Marathi writer D. B. Mokashi is his grandfather.
He was born in Pune in 1969 and he spent his childhood days in Lonavla where he completed his education. After graduation in Arts, he was associated with Marathi theatre as a backstage worker since 1988 before his establishment of his own production company, "Mayasabha Productions" in 2005. He has been associated with Theatre Academy and Maharashtra Cultural Center in the first phase of his career. He got opportunity to work with famous Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai and directed his first play Sangeet Debuchya Mulee for 1999 Prithvi Theatre festival. After that he directed numerous Marathi stage plays and earned quick recognition.
Marathi play, Samudra was staged in 2005 by his new production company and it also produced his maiden film venture, ‘Harishchandrachi Factory’ in 2009 telling the story of Dadasaheb Phalke and his first production venture – Raja Harishchandra. The movie received numerous awards including National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi. He is married to noted theater artist Madhugandha Kulkarni, who played a character role in his debut film venture. Paresh made his acting debut to movies through Bollywood film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999. But he was not interested in acting in movies and concentrated on to his theater activities.
