Pamella Bordes Biography

Pamella Bordes is a former model and Miss India 1982, who is also known as a professional photographer. She is also a fashion designer, who also works in mixed mediums from painting, photography, textiles, printing and sculptures. She is interested in printing fabrics also and has been in this field for more than 12 years. She has established retailed stores like Ogaan, Mogra, Melange, Cinnamon and Bungalow 8 in India and also stocks her line abroad. She hit the headlines in UK in 1988 and 1989 as the companion of several noted personalities.

 

Pamella Bordes was born in New Delhi as Pamella Chaudry Singh. Her father Major Mahinder Singh Kadian was an Army officer. She schooled at Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ Public School in Jaipur and later studied at Lady Sri Ram College in Delhi to study literature. She was crowned Miss India in 1982 and thus she got opportunity to represent India in Miss Universe contest the same year. The following year she handed over the crown to Juhi Chawla, who later became one of the top Bollywood actresses. Pamella later moved to Europe and got married to Henri Bordes and settled there. She was seriously injured by a motor bike accident while at Europe.

 

Pamella had the passion of photography since her teens. She started experimenting with old negatives at the age of 13. Later she went on to become a famous professional photographer and her photos have been published in many leading publications of Europe. She also made wildlife documentaries on 16mm film. Her works have received outstanding reviews from ‘The New York Times’. She has worked on Black and white photography for several years while at Africa.
