M. G. George Muthoot Biography 
M G George Muthoot is an entrepreneur and businessman from Kozhencherry, Kerala who serves as the Chairman of the Muthoot Group. He belongs to the third generation of the vast Muthoot Empire. His grandfather Ninan Mathai Muthoot was the founder of the Muthoot Group. His father M George Muthoot was the Founder Chairman - Banking, of the Muthoot Group. Muthoot also serves as the Lay Trustee of the Indian Orthodox Church and is also the National Executive Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry. In 2011 his name was listed among the top 50 richest Indian men by Forbes Magazine.
He was born on 2 November 1949 in Kozhencherry of Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. His father M George Muthoot was the Founder of the Financial Services of The Muthoot Group. He was born as the third son of the family. After graduation from Manipal University, he took Mechanical Engineering. After his studies he started off as an Office Assistant in his family banking business. He became the Managing Director of the bank in 1979 and was appointed as the Chairman of The Group in 1993 when the finance institution was spread over 4 States namely Kerala, Delhi, Chandigarh & Haryana with 31 branches. Under his leadership, 4433 branches operate across the country right now.
He also serves as the Chairman of the FICCI Kerala State Council. In January 2013, Muthoot Finance was Awarded ‘The SKOCH Award’ for Financial Inclusion. In 2009 the death of his 34 year son Paul Muthoot George gained wide attention state-wide. His murder mystery is still an unsolved puzzle.
