Kushal Pal Singh Biography 
Kushal Pal Singh - The man who built India's first smart city Gurgaon is Indian businessman, executive, real estate mogul and the chairman and CEO of DLF Limited. DLF - India's largest real estate developer was founded by his father-in-law Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh. He published his autobiography, 'Whatever the Odds: The Incredible Story Behind DLF' in 2011. A former army man, he is one among the richest persons in the world and his name was listed in the 130th of richest persons of the world. But in October 2014, DLF received an unprecedented 3-year ban from capital markets. His company was accused by the regulator of failing to disclose key information at the time of its record-breaking 2007 market listing.
Village boy-turned-visionary developer, he is best known for building India's first smart city Gurgaon, 15 miles outside India's capital Delhi. Now DLF is the largest real estate developer of India, where Singh serves as chairman and CEO. Right now, the outsourcing boom in the Gurgaon, the prototype city made it India’s third richest. His political links, to the Gandhi family in particular have also placed him in controversies.
Singh was born on 15 November 1931 in Bulandshahar, UP to a reputed lawyer. He completed graduation from Meerut and Aeronautical Engineering in UK, before joining Indian army. Later he worked with American Universal Electric Company. He joined his father-in-law's Delhi Land & Finance in 1961, which was the parent firm of present day DLF. DLF City in Gurgaon was his magic project. This showpiece township on the outskirts of Delhi was constructed by acquiring land from farmers. He transformed DLF into India’s biggest real estate firm. Currently his children – Rajiv and Piya have joined
the operations.
