Kaneez Surka Biography

Kaneez Surka is an Indian artist of South African origin. She is an Improvisational theatre artist, often called provisation or prov. She is an actor and comedian, associated with Indian entertainment industry. She has been a part of Mumbai improv scene since 2009. She achieved mainstream popularity on the satirical news show The Week That Wasn't. The show was aired on CNN-IBN. Surka is part of an improv group called "The Improvisers", and is also a teacher of this form of art. From a financial assistant to a comedian, she owns an inspirational story to tell.

 

Kaneez Surka was born and raised in Mthatha, South Africa. She was born on 28 October 1983 and is a South African citizen who works in Indian entertainment industry. Since young she realized her attraction towards comedy. Currently she is widely recognized as one of the most successful female comedians from India.

 

Improv workshops, acts, standup shows and sketches, she is full engaged in her work. She is currently Mumbai-based, and associated with the field since 2009. She has been a part of many popular shows with artists Cyrus Broacha and Kunal Vijaykar. Surka made a career out of speaking incorrect Hindi. Later she took Hindi lessons.

 

The Week That Wasn't was her first show as an artist. It was aired on CNN-IBN and Sky UK in 2006. The show was hosted by Cyrus Broacha. She has been a part of Amazon Prime stand-up comedy reality show Comicstaan and the show started off in 2018. As per latest buzz, she accused fellow comedian Aditi Mittal of Sexual Harassment, when #MeToo campaign has hit the country across entertainment field.
