Jetti A. Oliver Biography

Jetti A. Oliver an Agriculturalist, with experience in development sector. He currently serves as the Chancellor of Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences (SHUATS), Allahabad. He is also an elected member of Society for International Development (SID). He holds a Ph. D. in Development economics, and studied at Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University, Bapatla. His full name is Jetti Alfred Oliver, and he is also addressed as J. A. Oliver. He is associated with several organizations in Telangana related to Christianity, and is known as a promoter of Telugu bible.

Jetti Alfred Oliver hails from Khammam, present-day Telangana. Oliver was born in Raigudem village. He took Ph. D. in Development economics in the year 1970. He was initially associated with rural development.  He joined as the head of Rural Agricultural and Gramodyog Development Society in Khammam in the year 1974. He was associated with the same organization throughout 1970s working in the rural areas and villages. His main aim is to improve quality of life of rural people. In the early 1980s, he moved to Hyderabad and headed Centre for Promoters of Rural Development (CPRD).

He has worked as an academician in Church History Association of India, Bangalore.  He was associated with Historical studies, History of Christianity, Church History etc. He served as the Chairperson of the Telugu Theological Literature Board, which publishes Telugu Bible Dictionary for many decades. He is a promoter of the Telugu Bible. He also represented state at National Council of Churches in India. Bible Society of India Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary and Bible Society of India Telangana Auxiliary are among the Christian organizations with which he has associated with. He has authored two books on Agriculture and Churches.
