Maulana Wahiduddin Khan Biography

Maulana Wahiduddin Khan is a notable Islamic scholar who received the Demiurgus Peace International Award. He received Padma Bhushan award, third highest civilian award of India and National Citizen’s Award by Mother Teresa. He translated Quran in simple English and at present giving lectures on ETV Urdu, ITV, ARY Digital, QTV, Aaj TV and Bridges TV.

He was born on 1st January 1925 in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh in India. He studied at seminary of traditional Islamic learning. He opened an Islamic Centre in Delhi in 1970. He started Al-Risala Urdu Magazine in 1976 and the English edition of the magazine was started in February 1984 and Hindi version was started in December 1990. His notable articles are Hijacking – A Crime, Rights of Women in Islam, The Concept of Charity in Islam, and The Concept of Jihad.

He is a very important Islamic scholar in India and has published a number of books. He advises Muslims not to lodge complaints against others or protest against those who do harm to them. He says that one should take these situations and challenges and should work positively to overcome them. He is a personal advocate of interfaith dialogue among world religions. He is the member of the Board of World Religious Leaders for The Elijah Interfaith Institute.
