B. Ravi Pillai Biography 
B. Ravi Pillai is an Indian billionaire businessman of Kerala origin. Chavara from Kollam is his hometown. He is the founder director of RP Group of Companies, with branches in different countries. In 2015 he came to limelight after the big fat wedding of his daughter Arathi with Adhitya Vishnu in Kollam. This is considered to be the most expensive wedding in Kerala till date. The marriage news and photos went viral over net. The marriage was conducted at a total expense of Rupees 550 million, with production designing team called from film industry who worked for the big budget project, Baahubali.
B. Ravi Pillai was born on 2 September 1953 in Chavara, Kollam district, Kerala. He was born into a family of farmers. He completed MBA from Cochin University, and during his academic years he started a chit fund in Kollam using borrowed money. Later, he started an engineering contract business. Following a labour strike, he shut down his business and went to Saudi Arabia in 1978 where he started a small trading business. Very soon he moved to construction field, where he found a foot in business. He established Nasser Al Hajri Corporation with 150 employees, which later became the flagship company of his business group, RP Group. Currently the group employs over 70,000 employees across the globe.
He has set up many business firms in India and abroad, and diversified his business as well. He owns major shares in RP Mall, Kollam, and his group also owns stakes in hotels such as Leela Kovalam, Hotel Raviz and many more. His business has branched to many gulf countries, and currently he is one among the most successful Indian businessman in Gulf.
