How could one be a ‘zero’ and still be self confident at the same time? Aren’t the two qualities contradictory to each other? How can they co-exist?

Regarding them as diametrically opposed to each other is tantamount to missing the wood for the trees! What is required is that you should be a ‘zero’ before God. That is to say, your baser self should vanish into thin air as your intention is to fill God in every pore of your being. Divine filling can take place only in proportion to self-emptying. But this need not prevent you from being self-confident in your interaction with fellow-being. The practice of ‘zeroness’ will deal a shattering blow to  your accursed ego, causes the scales that cloud your vision to drop and enables you to comprehend the highest truths. Furthermore, it motivates you to shed all your preconceptions and prejudices and keep your heart and mind wide open to lofty ideals. In the event of your hurting someone inadvertently, you will be able to beg his forgiveness unhesitatingly by virtue of the ‘zeroness’. Above all, it will facilitate your Sadhana to progress full steam ahead.

Self confidence too confers several benefits on you. It enables you to interact with all human beings bravely and without any embarrassment. The conviction that God will respond to your heard-felt entreaties unfailingly increases your strength by leaps and bounds.

Just as the flower and its fragrance are interwoven, ‘zeroness’ and self confidence are as inseparable as the two sides of a coin. Wherever ‘seroness’ is present, self confidence too will be invariably present. However, you will do well to remember that the self confidence inspired by humility is as different from the illusory over confidence conjured up by the ego as the diamond is from the coal.

Whatever we do depends on our thinking. Sometimes it happens that situation make us feel lower and lose our confidence. Sometimes it happens that when we face continuous failures we will lose our confidence and feel that we cannot achieve anything in life and success is not in our cards. But this is not the truth, whatever happens we should not lose our confidence, instead we should learn more from our failures.
