Akshay Kumar – the latest superstar of Bollywood is also known as ‘Khiladi of Bollywood’. Before landing comfortably in comedy movies, he was an established action hero of Bollywood; most of these successful hits belong to Khiladi series, thus giving him the name ‘Khiladi’ of Bollywood.

Most recently he told in an interview that with the success of the movie ‘Khiladi’ in 1992, he didn’t even imagine that time that more than 5 movies will be released in Khiladi series and that the trend will remain even after 20 years to delivery successful ‘Khiladi’ blockbusters. Yes, anyone may wonder why Khiladi has been successfully associated with Akshay Kumar. No doubt, as a struggling actor during early 90’s, Khiladi movies were the one which helped Akshay Kumar to establish him as an actor in Bollywood.

Now let me name the movies belonging to Khiladi series. Khiladi in 1992, Main khiladi tu anari in 1994, Sabse bada khiladi in 1995, Khiladiyon ka khiladi in 1996, Mr and Mrs.Khiladi in 1997, International khiladi in 1999,Khiladi 420 in 2000 and after a Jupiter year, Khiladi 786 in 2012. Among all these movies, only Mr and Mrs.Khiladi opposite Juhi Chawla couldn’t emerge as ‘Khiladi of Bollywood’ – the only failure among the series. So, 8 Khiladi movies have been released till now, of which 7 movies were taken within 8 or 9 years.

The first movie of this series ‘Khiladi’ was a suspense thriller and murder mystery. It also included Ayesha Julka and Deepak Tijori in leading roles. The top tracks like ‘Wada raha sanam’ was quite popular that time. It was a blockbuster too. It followed Mein Khiladi Tu Anari in 1994. This movie can be counted among classic comedies and all time best thrillers. It was a multi starrer movie with Akshay kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Rajeswari playing leading roles. This movie is also remembered for the chemistry between Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty and songs like Chura ke dil mera and Mein Khiladi tu anari.

In next hit, Sabse bada khiladi he was paired opposite Mamta Kulkarni and it was an action movie. In khiladiyon ka khiladi, with Raveena Tandon and Rekha while Twinkle khanna was paired in International Khiladi. All these movies belong to action thrillers. In year 2000, Khiladi 420 was released where he did double role and heroine was Mahima Chaudary. The movie was not a big hit. The last one, most recently released was Khiladi 786. The movie paired Asin opposite to him and was a huge success proving that people are still eager to see him playing Khiladi’s role.
