It is not that hard to believe that it took 12 years for Christopher Nolan to finalize the script of this movie. He then went on to direct one of the most mind bending movies ever. This is also one of the most highly rated movies of all time.

Starring Leonardo Di Caprio as a thief who steals ideas from people’s minds, it introduces a somewhat distinct theme. Themes concerning dreams might have been played around with in a lot of movies but this one is surely the most intelligent. Leonardo’s character Cobb, assisted by Joseph Gordon Levitt’s character are given an assignment to plant an idea by a Japanese business tycoon in the mind of his rival in order attain supremacy in the energy business. Cobb quickly assembles a team together and concocts an elaborate plan to carry out the assignment which is called Inception since it would grant him the freedom to enter USA from which he is banned. He wants to accomplish this in order to be able to see his children again.

But he has his demons in the form of his dead wife who keeps popping up in his dream and derails his task again and again. The second half of the movie is all about the elaborate plan and the hurdles they face. The movie can get confusing at times and might need multiple viewings but it is totally worth it. Background score by Hans Zimmer hooks and pulls you in right from the beginning of the movie. The lead character is flawed and that works well for the movie and so does the subtle acting performances by rest of the cast which includes Ellen Page, Michael Caine and most notably Tom Hardy. Hardy steals the show in his first Hollywood movie with a terrific performance and this movie was the main reason he began getting noticed by the other directors.

There are twists and turns all the way which will grip you. The sheer intelligence in the script is mind-blowing and so are the graphics. This is not a light hearted movie to watch just to pass time but it requires concentration. In the end it is completely worth it as you will be boggled by the spectacle that you just witnessed. The cheeky ending compliments it even more.
