Wardrobes – the inevitable part of a bedroom, the place used for keeping clothes, money and all precious items including documents in a safe place. So, it’s the special storage area of a home and hence should be given importance while designing phase itself. What things are to be noted? What is its size? It should be made of which material? Ok, let me clear some simple doubts related to wardrobe designing.

In many homes, we have noticed wardrobes with a lot of unused space in its upper part. Very soon it will turn to a dump yard or a dust area due to lack of care. Why can’t we design a wardrobe that touches the ceiling? If so, we can fully utilize the space effectively. As it remains close always, only remote chances are there for dust attack. If so, you can place less used items in that area including your albums, old toys, old saris, not frequently used blankets and bed sheets, instruments and anything you want to hide from your guests. Same is the case of your bed too. Fix a few pullout drawers to make better use of space available that can be wasted for no reasons.

While designing wardrobes, never forget to give spaces for hangers. Better space for hangers is 1.5 metre above the ground level. If you place it too high, it’s difficult for you to take and place clothes. Find space for small separate drawers to place socks and undergarments. It is better to keep them in separate spaces to avoid searching. A ventilated shelf can be provided at ground level for putting used clothes. As it is air circulated drawer it won’t catch bad smell easily. It’s always a nice idea to place used clothes like this far away from a visitor’s eyes. Such a partition can be given to place clothes that you may use once again for washing. Ventilated drawers provide enough air circulation inside. Pullout drawers are the best. Another option is to fix laundry bag behind the door. Fix a few nails or hanger inside the door of your wardrobe to hang small clothes, tie, belts etc.
