Anna Hazare And Jan Lokpal Bill

India minus corruption is the goal of Anna Hazare. He is a Gandhian who is enthusiastic in bringing India to the forefront by his social reforms. He started his journey as a soldier in his age of 15. During the Indo-Chinese war of 1962, he joined the army and worked for 12 years. He had given his tireless service in the dangerous places like Sikkim, Jammu Kashmir and Leh and Ladakh braving tough weather conditions. In one such situation he was about to be wiped out by a bullet. This narrow escape gave him enlightenment and he decided to be a bachelor in his life.

He often questioned about the purpose of human existence. He was filled with numerous questions and not getting answers for him decided to commit suicide once in his utter frustration. However, he happened to read a book written by Swami Vivekananda. The very photo of the Swami on the cover of the book inspired him and he could get answers to all the questions in that book and so after a service of 12 years in the Indian army, he retired to devote his life completely for social reforms.

He stood front in the battle to make Right to Information a law. He had contributed a lot to his native village named Ralegan Siddhi and helped his villagers out of the liquor dens. Through his innovative watershed project, his villagers were able to get good agricultural yield and the village turned from drought conditions to prosperous conditions. He also implemented some other schemes like mass marriages, dairy and grains bank. Wise usage of natural resources will give better human existence is his voice.

He fights for the Jan Lokpal Bill that will help Indian people out of corruption. This bill will bring a change in the administration of government offices. The rights of the public are protected through this and they could get their works done easily. Lokpal, the national institution and Lokayukta, the state institution should be started and they should serve as independent bodies just like the Indian courts and election commission. No minister will have rights to investigate into the matters of Lokpal or meddle in its affairs.

Any complaint should be investigated within one year’s time and the trial should be completed in the next year. So any corrupt officer should go to jail if found guilty within two years. Apart from this, the penalty imposed on the officer should be given to the one affected as a compensation. This will ensure corruption free India as any officer who has the fear of punishment will not postpone any government activity. If you could not get your ration card in time or face difficulty in getting birth certificates or death certificates you can easily move Lokpal and get the work done quickly.

Anna Hazare wanted this bill to be enacted and for this purpose, he went on fast unto death twice risking his own life. This made Anna Hazare photos and Anna Hazare videos popular among his followers as they are the sources of inspirations for them. India certainly needs the service of such selfless people.
