Sri Venkateswara National Park was established in the year 1989 and it spreads over an area of about 354 square kilometers stretching in Chittoor and Cuddapah districts of Andhra Pradesh. It covers the hilly terrain of Seshachalam and Tirumala hills and includes many steep slopes, plateaus and valleys. Within its limits is located the beautiful waterfalls namely Talakona, Gundalakona and Gunjana. Though this park is opened all through the year, the best time to visit the park is from November to January.
The forest is rich in flora such as sandalwood, redsanders, shorea, thumbergiana, shorea talura, etc. and fauna namely golden gecko, Indian giant squirrel, nilgai, wild boar, leopard, hyena and flying lizards and more than 100 species of birds that include crested serpent eagel, Indian roller, kingfishers and white bellied woodpecker.
