The city of Seerkazhi (also called Sirkazhi)  is located in the Nagapattinam district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is in close proximity to the coast of Bay of Bengal. This is one of the calming places that has been a part of Hindu mythology and been given various names as well. And what is more remarkable is that when you arrive here you will see the meticulous ways that customs and traditions have been carried on through the years and still maintained by the people who live here with utmost faith and dedication.

You will be able to visit a temple that is at the center of the city. This is a famous temple of Seerkazhi that was built several centuries ago. And in this temple there are the deities of Brahmapureeswarar and Thirumala Nayaki that are worshipped. There are several festivals that are held in this temple and one among them is that of Brahmotsavam. This is a very unique temple in which there are three incarnations of Lord Shiva that is worshipped. And thus there are three shrines. And there are also 22 tirthas or ponds. The water of these ponds are considered to be sacred and used for temple reasons. There are times of festivals when pilgrims and worshippers come here to take a dip in these ponds. It is considered to be holy and will sanctify their bodies and souls from all sins and misdeeds.

The nearest airport from where you can reach Seerkazhi is that of Trichy. You will be able to fly domestic flights from here and these are all available through frequent and regular schedules. Then there is also Chennai airport. From here apart from regular domestic flights you can also take international flights. The nearest railway station is at Mayavaram. It is at a distance of 30 kilometers from Seerkazhi. This is connected to all other major railway stations of Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country. There is a railway station available at Seerkazhi but that is unavailable due to work in progress.

There is a well developed bus services network that is also available from Seerkazhi. These buses are of good services and will take you to different places of Tamil Nadu like Chidambaram, Chennai and Mayavaram. There are also others that may be traveling to neighboring cities that are out of the state.

There are hotels and other kinds of private accommodations facilities available at Seerkazhi. Though this is a beautiful place that is amply endowed with natural beauty a substantial population of tourists are a part of religious travelers. Therefore the place is still growing when it comes to state of the art facilities and amenities that you may be expecting. But available ones are every bit worth your money and impeccable.
