There are various means of transport in Pune such as buses, auto rickshaws, two wheelers, cars and suburban rail. These are easily accessible and some of them have to booked in advance.

Transportation in Pune by Buses

The buses in Pune are run by PMPML and all the parts of the city are covered by them. The city bus stands are situated in Shivaji Nagar, Swargate, Kothrud Depot, Nigdi, Hadapsar, Katraj and Deccan. The busiest bus station in Maharashtra state is Shivaji Nagar Bus Station. The buses are the cheapest means of transport though they are crowded.

Transportation in Pune by Auto Rickshaws

There are many auto rickshaws found on the roads of Pune and there are also prepaid rickshaws which you have to avail from the stands located at Lohegaon Airport, Swargate Bus Depot and Shivaji Nagar. The autos have meters in them and they have a tariff card based on which they charge. The charges will be higher in night times.

Pune could rightly be said as the city of motorcycles. You can hire two wheelers, a bike or a scooter of your choice and you have to pay the rent per day. They are ideal option for day trips. You can hire them at Mehta Autos or Blossoms. They will deliver the vehicle at your accommodation if you fulfill their requirements.

The chauffeur driven cars are available for day rent and hourly rent in Pune. These car rental agencies will pick you up at your doorsteps if you make prior bookings through phone. You can also book the cab online. The charges will vary based on the type of vehicle you hire.

Transportation in Pune by Suburban Train

Pune Suburban Railway runs between Pune and Lonavala. There are seventeen stations in this line and from these stations you can avail buses, autos and taxis to reach your destination. Some of the places connected by this suburban rail network are Pune City, Shivaji Nagar, Khadki, Dapodi, Kasarwadi, Pimpri, Chinchwad, Akurdi, Dehu Road, Begdewadi, Ghorawadi, Talegaon, Wadgaon, Kanhe, Kamshet and Malwali.
