The town of Pollachi is in the Coimbatore district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located in the vicinity of the Western Ghats this is a picturesque destination that has a vibrant local culture. You will find a colorful and active social market that has several attractive offers of well known products.

There are vast rice fields and cultivation areas of Pollachi that will prove to be a visual delight for your tired eyes. If you are from the hectic city life then you will surely feel the nerves relaxing and your mind refreshing in the calming environs of the pollution free environment.

There are several temples located in Pollachi that are also an important part of its culture. The temple of Subramanya Swamy Thirukoil is a 700 years old place of worship that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was built by the rulers of the Konga Cholas. You will find an interesting architectural style and sculpture that has been incorporated in the structure of this temple. There are several other temples that are located at different points of Pollachi and have interesting legends behind their initiation.

You can also take a trip of the Parambikulam National Park. This is a wildlife sanctuary in the place that is a vast natural reserve used as a habitat for different species of animal life. There is also a wide range of birds that can be seen here. The sanctuary has animals like Bengal tigers, elephants, panthers, wild boars and a variety of reptiles and birds too. This is also a region that sees plenty of streams of water running from rivers of the Western Ghats. This gives life to plenty of fishes that are found in the water. Butterflies and insects are also found here in large variety.

Besides fauna there is also a wide range of flora that’s available here. There are teak and sandalwood trees that are available here among others. Other varieties of trees will include neem and rosewood.

You can make a trip to the famous Pollachi Market. This is an exciting place to be considering the variety that is on offer here – from jiggery to cattle.

The nearest airport to Pollachi is at Coimbatore. There are regular scheduled flights available to all the major destinations of the country. There is a frequent availability of taxis in Pollachi. They are viable for both long distance travel and short excursions.

Pollachi also has its own range of hotels that provide perfect accommodation facilities to guests. These are also cost-effective.
