The city of Palani is in the Dindigul district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is also located in close proximity to the city of Dindigul and is considered to be a sacred destination too. This is the destination of the temple of Lord Murugan that is held with much reverence in the region. Every year there are several thousands of devotees who visit here for their annual worship.

In the backdrop of Palani city there are the beautiful Palani Hills. You will see some of the most picturesque scenic beauty in the landscapes and the valleys.

You can visit the Palani Hill Temple which is dedicated to the Lord Murugan – one of the most popularly and sacred temples of south India. This beautiful ancient temple is located at an elevation of 1500 feet from sea level and forms a magnificent architectural structure. Upon standing at the temple premises you will be able to get a panoramic view of the surrounding hills of the Western Ghats and the landscapes. This can be one of the most enticing views to experience here.

On your way to the temple make sure you visit the Padha Vinayagar Temple that is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. This temple is the starting point of the ‘steps route’ to the temple. Pilgrims and visitors usually finish their prayers and offerings here and then start climbing the steps to the main temple.

There is a beautiful wildlife reserve at Bison Wells in Palani city. There is a wide range of wildlife that is seen here from elephants, tigers, monkeys, bisons and deer that is seen here. This is also a gathering place and breeding ground for a wide range of birds. There are those interested in trekking, hiking and camping in natural reserves. There will be a need for a special permission for the same. you can also come here for day trips and see the  flora and fauna in close distance.

There are various ways you can reach Palani city. The nearest airport is at Coimbatore from where there are regular flights scheduled to all major cities of the country along with several other places. There are also the airports of Madurai, Chennai and Bangalore that are accessible from here. Palani has its own railway station that is connected by a regular and frequent schedule of trains to Coimbatore, Palakkadu and Madurai. From Coimbatore there are trains to all other parts of the country that connects Palani.

There are several hotels that are also available in Palani. These have especially come up in the past few years owing to the fact that there are thousands of pilgrims and tourists that come to the place every year. The accommodation facilities are quite affordable and also provide quality hygienic facilities.
