The Government Rose Garden is the largest of its kind in India. It is situated on the Elk Hill at an altitude of 2200 meters above sea level. It was established in May 1995 as a mark of the centenary celebration of the Flower Show in the Ooty Botanical Gardens.

Rose Garden is called by various names as Centenary Rose Park, Jayalalitha Rose Garden and Nootrandu Roja Poonga. It spreads over an area of 4 hectares and houses more than 20,000 varieties of roses including miniature roses, polyanthas, and floribunda and hybrid tea roses. This is indeed the largest rose collection in India. This is maintained by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department.
