Pykara Lake is a wonderful spot and could be said as a paradise on earth. This is originally a dam that supplies water to the nearby places. The indigenous people of the region, Todas consider the Pykara River as sacred one. The river starts at Mukurthi Peak and flows through Pykara dam. There is a hydro-electric power project established here.

Pykara Lake is situated near the road to Gudalur and has a boat house established and maintained by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation. Many movies were shot in this wonderful region.
