Ooty Lake is located very close to the main bus stand and railway station. At one end of the lake is the boat club from which you can hire the boats from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. Boat races are held here during summer seasons.

This is an artificial lake formed by John Sullivan in 1824. He directed the mountain streams to flow into this lake. The area of the lake has shrunk at present than it originally was during his times. The lake came under the control of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation in 1973.

There is a children’s park in the boat house and a toy train runs through that. There is also an adjacent deer park which is visible while you enjoy the boat ride. The paddle boats, row boats and motor boats are available for riding. Pony rides are available out of the boat house.
