This was the tank built during the time of Alauddin Khilji in 1300 AD to facilitate water supply to his capital city Siri. A Madarasa was built by Feroz Shah Tughlaq in this place and the ruins are found even now. The little village of Hauz Khas is one of the attractive shopping areas in Delhi.
