Maharajbagh Zoo is located in the heart of the city and was built in the gardens of Bhonsle and Maratha rulers. The zoo is under the maintenance of Punjabrao Krishi Vidyapeeth. Some of the animals found here are leopards, lion, tiger, peacock and many other animals. It is a small zoo where animals are kept in enclosures and so it triggered many controversies. The unexpected death of some animals here due to the negligence of proper care led to some governmental actions. It remains one of the tourist attractions in Nagpur where thousands of people visit every year.
