Deekshabhoomi is one of the holy places of Buddhists where the sacred monument is situated. It was in this place that Dr. Ambedkar converted thousands of dalit people to Buddhism on 14th October 1956. Deekshabhoomi is visited by thousands of pilgrims on Ashok Vijaya Dashmi and on 14th October. There is a huge stupa called Dhamma Chakra Stupa built at this place. It was designed based on the famous stupa of Sanchi but with a hollow interior. At the center of the ground floor, an idol of Buddha is placed. The stupa has doors on all four directions and has large arcs which are decorated with Ashok Chakras and statues of animals like horses, elephants and lions. There is also a Bodhi Trees in the Vihara.
