Pathiramanal is a small island located in Alappuzha district. The name Pathiramanal means the sands of the night. This island is noted for its scenic beauty and house a number of migratory birds that come from different parts of the world. The island spreads over an area of about 28 hectares of land and is about 1.5 kilometers from Muhamma boat jetty. This island is a paradise of ornithologists. Some of the birds seen here are pintail ducks, common teal, night heron, darter, Indian shag, purple heron, gulls, large egrets, cattle egret, Indian pond heron, watercock, whistling duck and whiskered tern.
