Thalaiyar Falls is the highest waterfall in Tamil Nadu and the third highest in India. When viewed from a distance it appears to be a think white strip of cascading water and so it is also known as rat tail falls. A little river flows at the bottom.

There is no proper road to this falls and so it is considered to be inaccessible. Hikers could reach them. Mango orchards and potato fields are located around this area. One has to climb up along the stream and go up the large boulders with some difficulty and reach its bottom. To and fro would cover 15 kilometers and would take a full day hiking.
