Berijam Lake is a reservoir and the drinking water to the neighboring areas is supplied from here. Animals like bison, elephants and leopards are found in this area. To enter into this area, you have to obtain the entry permits from the Tamil Nadu Forest Department. This is one of the places of scenic beauty unhindered by the ravages of man. This is a good place for researchers and trekkers.

The place is rich in flora and fauna and many medicinal plants are found here. Wide variety of animals from insects to mammals are found in this place and some of them are bison, Nilgiri langur, Malabar Giant squirrel, Indian Elephants, wild boar, barking deer, sambar deer, Indian crested porcupines, etc.
