The city of Jamnagar is located in the Indian state of Gujarat. This is a city that was built in the years of the 1920s by the then Maharaja Kumar Shri Ranjitsinghji.  The city is in the district of Jamnagar that borders along the Gulf of Kutch. This is also a commercially active place with several oil refineries of companies like that of Reliance Industries and Essar Corporation being built here.

There are several places of interest in the city of Jamnagar that sees thousands of tourists and visitors every year. You can make a short trip to the city that has one of the one marine sanctuaries of the country at the Marine National Park. This is situated on the coral reef of Pirotan.

There are also several other places of interest that attract tourists to the city. Among these there is the Darbargadh Palace of the Jam Sahebs. This is a striking confluence of Rajput and a European style of architecture and makes for a truly magnificent structure. Then there is the Lakhota Fort. This is a palace that has been built on an island located in the middle of the Lakhota Lake. The fort that has now been turned into a museum has a good collection of sculptures and paintings. But the most impressive part of its structure are the bastions, musket loops and guard rooms that are aplenty with swords of different kinds. There is also a large amount of local pottery that is on display here.

You can also visit the Dhanvantri Mandir which can be also called the Ayurvedic University. This is a place of intense research and development of medicine from plants and herbs and flower extracts of different kinds. These are all based on the study of centuries old Ayurveda. Take a trip to the Solarium as well. This is believed to be the only one of its kind available as the two others that was in France was destroyed during the wars. This was built by Maharaja Ranjitsinghji when he got an expert from France to carry out the task here. This is a slowly moving tower where you can take a daylong treatment of sunlight that is a cure of skin diseases.

One of the most popular destinations that is in close proximity to the city is that of Dwarka. This is a famous temple that has been known to be here for more than a century and is visited in thousands every year by devotees. There are other well known temples like that of Rukmini Devi, Gomti Ghat and Nageshwar temple among others.

There is a wide range of facilities for accommodation and entertainment at Jamnagar. There is a choice of adventure activities and underwater diving that you can experience.
