The city of Jalandhar is in the Indian state of Punjab. It has a rich historical background and is also one of the oldest in the region of the Punjab. There are several places of interest that can be visited here apart from enjoying the warmth and hospitality of traditional Punjabi culture.

 

Among the many places that you can visit at Jalandhar there is the Devi Talab Mandir. This is an old temple that has seen plenty of renovations in recent years. You will also get to see a depiction of the Amarnath Yatra that has been constructed within the premises of this temple. There is also a temple in close proximity that is dedicated to Goddess Kali.

 

There is another temple that is known as Tulsi Mandir. This is a temple of Vrinda who was the wife of a demon named Jalandhara.  There is a tank of water that is seen in the temple premises where it is believed to have been the bathing place for the demon.  At a close distance from here you will get to see a temple of Gupha that has been dedicated to Annapurna Devi along with a few temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is also a pond here by the name of Brahm Kund.

 

You can also visit the auspicious Gurudwara Chevin Padshahi. This is where Guru Gobind Singh had met the Muslim saint named Sheikh Darvesh when he was in this city. He had discussed matters of religious and social significance.

 

If you are in Jalandhar then take a trip to the village of Khatkal Kalan which was the birthplace of one of the most well known freedom fighters of India – Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Here you will find a museum that has several belongings and memorabilia of the great leader as well as of his closest associates like Sukhdev and Raj Guru.

 

The nearest airport that will reach you to the city of Jalandhar is at Amritsar International Airport. There is a convenient and frequent schedule of domestic and international flights from here which makes traveling easy. You can also travel to Jalandhar by train as it has its own. There are regular trains available to different parts of the country. There is a well developed bus service available in Jalandhar which is connected to different parts of the country especially in the northern regions and within the state of Punjab.

 

Jalandhar receives a heavy flow of tourists at all times of the year. And thus quite naturally there is a presence of several hotels and accommodation facilities in the city. There are luxury and expensive hotels here where you can stay. And if you have a budget restriction then there are inexpensive hotels too which are available.
