The location of the Itanagar is in the picturesque far eastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. This is also the state capital and is situated in the Himalayan foothills. It is a beautiful place that has a vast reserve of natural beauty coupled with a very pleasant climatic pattern as well. There is a very active network of communication that exists between the township and the rest of the country and you can travel with ease by air and roadways.  There is a restrictive presence of railways owing to the large scale terrain that exists in the state and makes it difficult for railway tracks.

There are regular bus services that ply from Guwahati and from there to other parts of the region. These are mostly luxury deluxe buses that will provide ultimate comfort even in case of long distances. A helicopter service carried out by Pawan Hans from Guwahati to Naharlagun in Itanagar. The place is as rich in its tradition and culture as in historical places. There is the Ita Fort that is situated here as a bearing of its past dating back to the 15th century. The name too has been derived from here. Then there is the famous Ganga Lake or the Gyakar Sinyi and the Buddhist Temple that was sanctified by Dalai Lama. There are also two well known churches here that are also popularly visited by tourists and visitors.

You can also visit the Jawaharlal Nehru Museum that is a collection of beautiful artifacts from all over the state. There is wide range of products carved from wood and stone and symbolic of the art and culture of the place that is exhibited here. In addition you will also see an array of textile and musical instruments and archeological findings that have been excavated over the years.

The nearest railway station from here is in Harmuti in the state of Assam. There is also a bus station that is located in Tezpur, Guwahati and Lakhimpur in Assam. There are different kinds of accommodation facilities available with luxury and budget hotels along with government guest houses too. These are also places from where you can access car rentals and locally guided tours to various corners of the state to experience some of the breathtaking views of the Himalayan range.

The gentle balance of the climate makes for a pleasant time throughout the year especially if you are trying to find a place to escape the heat of the upcoming summer months. Though it will not be chilling cold there will be a need for light woolens when you are traveling through various places of interest and at higher altitudes. It will surely remain as one of the most memorable trips among your holidays.
