Lal Baag Palace is one of the important tourist attractions of Indore and is located on the outskirts of the town. It is a three storied building situated on the banks of the river Khan and was built in the beginning of 20th century by Maharaja Tukoji Rao Holkar. It reflects the life and culture of the Holkar dynasty.

The prehistoric artifacts are displayed here and it has a section full of ancient coins most of them belonging to the Mughal era. Another gallery displays the Indian and Italian paintings and sculptures of the modern period. The marble flooring, grand chandeliers, artworks in the ceiling, stained glass windows and stuffed animals give unique experience to the visitors. The whole complex spreads over an area of 28 acres of land. Outside the palace is a rose garden, one of the best in the country. The palace is opened on all days except on Mondays.
